AtomFest 2007 - a big hit. 11/7/2007

AtomFest Was Awesome!

AtomFest was a great success with participants from all over North America, the UK and The Netherlands sharing our "Three Days of Atoms at Speed." Daily track action saw the Atom track record fall not once, but three times to a current 1 minute 22.4 seconds.

A record thirty (30) Atoms in all participated over the course of the festival and hundreds of laps around the 1.8 mile Hallett Motor Racing Circuit brought wide smiles to drivers, passengers and spectators alike.

An evening cruise to Tulsa filled the Sonic Drive-In with twenty four Atoms and brought Atomic passion to the Friday night crowd there.

High speed, high spirits and great times were in evidence everywhere and both participants  and guests left with thoughts of AtomFest 2008!

Here is what some of this year's participants had to say about AtomFest-

". . . quite simply the most enjoyable weekend of driving I have ever experienced in my life."
-Eric Howe

"Where does one start?  Without a doubt it was one of the most enjoyable events I've ever attended!  Great people, great cars, great drives, perfect!"
-Mark K

"I had the best weekend in 20 years. Fast Cars, great company, good music."
-Peter Thomas

"When we started building the Atom some 7 or 8 years ago we never thought, in our wildest dreams, that we’d be standing in the countryside of Oklahoma with such a nice bunch of folks, watching 30 or so Ariels scream around a race track.  Atoms, sunshine, a great track and not even a noise limit – it doesn’t get much better.  Add in barbeques, live music and some of the nicest people you could wish to meet and you’ll begin to get the full picture."
-Simon Saunders

Angie Brady to Perform at AtomFest 10/2/2007
Oklahoma City Recording Artist Features at AtomFest

Oklahoma City native Angie Brady has been selected as the feature artist for AtomFest which will be held at Hallett Motor Racing Circuit in October. Ms. Brady will be showcasing her highly-rated debut album "You Don't Know Me" at this inaugural gathering of Ariel Atoms in North America.

What folks have said about Angie Brady

Angie Brady, Oklahoma's brightest new Country artist is as beautiful on the inside as she is on the out. One only has to listen to her voice melodically capturing the contents of her soul to know that through music she reaches her heart out to yours. As a young child Ms. Brady was destined to be Oklahoma City's very own Country Queen, winning local beauty contests and talent shows. Angie's fondest memories are of her older brother proudly providing piano accompaniment while she showcased her budding talents singing to school audiences. With him at her side she learned early on that a loving family and community could help make anybody's dreams come true. -CDBaby.com

Angie Brady is an amazing singer, who wastes none of that talent on meaningless songs. You Don't Know Me is packed full of deep, beautiful music. A good example of this is "Unlock Me" a track that features haunting harmonies and a sad, country instrumental arrangement. It's not your usual love song, and that's why I like it. This one would make a great radio-single. What really grabs me about this album is the combination of Angie's superb vocals with inspired lyrics and an attention-getting attention to the music behind the words. There is no tired studio sound here, each cut has something special too it making the entire musical package more valuable. There is not a singer in Nashville that I can compare Angie Brady to... she is totally unique, with a powerful voice and an obvious ear for a great song. Brady is destined, in this writer's opinion, to become one of country music's great one-name female artists. Reba, Trisha, Faith... welcome Angie. - AngryCountry.com - Michael Allison

A great combination

Angie Brady has become a fan of the Atom since her mother began driving one earlier this year. AtomFest organizers are Angie’s fans too. According to event organizer and self-proclaimed Atom Evangelist Randy Lamp: “We think Angie will be a great draw for our international and domestic visitors. She brings a real sense of Oklahoma and Country to her performances and will be a terrific ambassador.”

The Ariel Atom Owner’s Club 9/12/2007

The Ariel Atom Owner’s Club

Almost certainly due to the nature of the Atom, most owners are the kinds of people that wouldn’t want to belong to a club of any kind. They tend to be independent individuals with a penchant for the unpredictable who frankly don’t give a rat’s arse for what’s generally accepted.

And that’s what makes the AAOC different - the people who are entitled to join it. There are no regular meetings. No enforcing committee members. What you get with the AAOC is a brilliant resource of information, some seriously knowledgeable owners. You get to hang out with a thoroughly (and surprisingly) agreeable bunch of people who can actually converse intelligently about things other than cars.

Many of the benefits of the club are ideally accessed on the internet - in fact, that’s the best way to find out the latest news and views, to discover what’s happening where, and unearth a treasure trove of information.

Following is an excerpt from a recent Club newsletter:

World’s Biggest Molecule

At Rockingham Speedway near Corby, 17 Atoms gathered for a truly great trackday (pic. above). The weather was fabulous, the conditions perfect, and the photo opportunities unique in the history of the club. The driving standards were very good, but Atoms being quicker than everything else on track did put the odd hackle up amongst our fellow trackdayers. Maybe next year we’ll have enough for an exclusive day to ourselves!

The objectives of the AAOC

  • Assist with appropriate events
  • Encourage safe, skilled driving
  • Act as a meeting point for owners
  • Gather feedback from owners
  • Record the history of cars
  • Work to negotiate club discounts
  • Provide unbiased information
  • Harness the skills of members
  • Promote the vehicle and brand
  • Provide online services
  • Provide club merchandise

How to join the club

The best way is to go online at www.atomclub.com and click on membership. The annual fee is just $40 and there is an initial $16 joining fee. You can find out more about the club at the website, or by emailing membership@atomclub.com

North American Automotove Press Praises the Ariel Atom 9/6/2007

Ariel Atom in the North American Press

The Ariel Atom has caught the attention of Grassroots Motorsports, Car and Driver, Motor Trend, and Automobile Magazine. In it's October issue, Grassroots features an eight page hands-on test of the Atom including an entertaining description by noted automotive novelist and self proclaimed "ride mooch" Burt 'BS' Levy.

You can find Grassroots Motorsports Magazine at Barnes & Noble, Maazon.com and online at www.grassrootsmotorsports.com. Burt Levy's books can be purchased from Amazon.com and online at www.lastopenroad.com.

Author Bury Levy (driver) and GRM Publisher Tim Suddard discuss the Atom during testing at Eagles Canyon Raceway near Dallas, Texas.

Motortrend recently attended the Ariel Atom Experience. See their video report here: http://www.motortrend.com/av/roadtests/112_0708_2007_ariel_atom

Car and Driver also samples the Ariel Atom Experience. Here is their report:

Thursday, Oct 19 named Synergy Autoworks Day 8/23/2007

Synergy Autoworks Day at AtomFest!

We are pleased to announce that in honor of Jim Sharp's many contributions to AtomFest and the Ariel Atom community, we have named Friday, October 19, 2007 Synergy Autoworks Day at AtomFest.

Jim and Synergy Crew at Eagles Canyon Raceway

Jim has been a good friend and enthusiastic supporter of AtomFest since the very early days and is both a double Atom owner and fierce competitor. Jim has the last UK built Atom to enter the US and a US/Brammo car. The UK car is powered by a 220 HP Honda and the US car by a 300 HP Ecotec.

Jims UK and US Atoms at Eagles Canyon

If you will be participating in the free track day on Friday, please make it a point to thank Jim for the privilege. His company, Synergy Autoworks is also sponsoring the free DynoJet testing for Atoms at it’s Tulsa facility which is located at 6549 E. 40th St. in Tulsa. Ariel Atom Experience coming to AtomFest! 8/16/2007

Ariel Atom Experience coming to AtomFest!

Key players at Brammo, Trak Motorsports (operators of the Ariel Atom Experience) and AtomFest have been working together recently to bring an Ariel Atom Experience team to our 'Fest. I am pleased to say that plans are in the works as this is being written. Dave Goadby, President of Trak and I agree that AtomFest and the Ariel Atom Experience are each significant in the North American Atom community that working together just makes sense. Those attending AtomFest will indeed be able to rub elbows with the movers and shakers at AAE.

AAEGraphic.jpg picture by SuperCobraBuilders

Before you jump to the conclusion that you may be driving an AAE Atom 'round Hallett's 1.8 mile circuit, I must tell you that we could not make it happen . . . this year. Due to some sticky insurance requirements and the short amount of time to prepare (my fault), we will see just a small portion of the AAE team this year, not be a full blown AAE event. Look for a larger AAE involvement in AtomFest in the future.

Do you have questions about tire pressure, camber angle, or torquing practice for the track? With 8 Atoms in it's stable and many track days behind it, Trak has more Atom experience in high speed, high performance use of it's cars than anyone in north America. Trak are great fans of the Atom and have offered to help us by contributing to our technical sessions on chassis setup and vehicle maintenance. Say you're a one-on-one kinda guy? The campfire and VIP Club room will offer great opportunities to meet and greet.

Dave is a great guy, well respected by Brammo and is already taking steps to bring even more excitement and interest to AtomFest.
Welcome, Dave!
